The New Year is a time to reflect on what has passed and to look ahead to the opportunities to come. And this year, as I consider all that 2017 has in store, I believe those opportunities are greater than ever. For we have made a momentous decision and set ourselves on a new direction.
There was a time when British Olympic medal winners became household names because there were so few of them. But the 67 medals at this years Games in Rio and 147 at the Paralympics meant that the GB medallists reception at Buckingham Palace was a crowded and happy event.
I dont know what to say. I didnt know that there would be a podium with a microphone. I thought I would just be singing songs. Not to downplay that, but…oh, my goodness, what an honor! I am just so humbled and excited to be here, looking out at all of you.
Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Kee Fateh. Sat Sri Akal.
Easter is a moment to reflect and an important time for Christians and others to gather together with families and friends.
There is no greater honour for me, as Prime Minister, than to work with so many of you: the extraordinary men and women who make up the armed forces of our United Kingdom.
Mr. Speaker, yesterday, an act of terrorism tried to silence our democracy. But today, we meet as normal – as generations have done before us, and as future generations will continue to do – to deliver a simple message: we are not afraid. And our resolve will never waver in the face of terrorism.
It is very good to be with you here today, and particularly to be able to thank you all for the work that you do on behalf of the government and on behalf of the British people.
Well, thank you very much, everybody. Its good to be here in Cardiff today for our Spring Forum and Welsh Conference. Bringing these two events together under one banner reminds us once again that we are – and will always be – the Conservative and Unionist Party – the only Party today that represents and delivers for every part of this precious United Kingdom. Id like to thank Alun Cairns for that introduction.
Thank you very much. And I am pleased to be here in Turkey today and to be able to meet Prime Minister Yildirim and President Erdogan just one day after meeting the new US President Donald Trump in Washington.
Thank you, thank you. Well, thank you very much for that fantastic welcome. And can I say Majority Leader McConnell, Mr. Speaker, distinguished members of the Senate and Representatives of the House: I would like to thank Congress and the Congressional Institute for the invitation to be here today.
Thank you, Professor Schwab, for that introduction, and thank you for inviting me to speak here at the World Economic Forum this morning. This is an organisation that is, as it says in the very first line of your mission statement, committed to improving the state of the world. Those of us who meet here are all – by instinct and outlook – optimists who believe in the power of public and private co-operation to make the world of tomorrow better than the world of today.
Thank you, Hilda, for that introduction and for those kind words. And thank you to everyone who has made this event happen: Michael Heller; Henry Davis; our sponsors, Canaccord; James Gurd and the team from CFI; and, of course, the one and only Stuart Polak.
A little over 6 months ago, the British people voted for change. They voted to shape a brighter future for our country. They voted to leave the European Union and embrace the world.

Today, I have set out a clear vision for the future of this country as we leave the European Union. Its a plan for a stronger, fairer, Global Britain and a brighter future for generations to come.
